4 Day Tour - Fes to Marrakech

Day 1

Fes Azrou Midelt Merzouga

We will meet you for an early morning departure from your hotel/riad in Fes for the Middle Atlas Mountains. The landscapes we cross on today's drive will be diverse and constantly changing. First we will encounter the cedar forests south of Azrou, which starkly contrasts with the surrounding barrenness of the Middle Atlas. Here we might catch a glimpse of the Barbary apes. Then we will start slowly descending the Middle Atlas ranges and wind up in the palm oasis of the stunning Ziz Valley. The road will be taking us across Erfoud and Rissani to the desert of Merzouga. Here upon our arrival, we will meet with our camel guide and camel trek into the quietness and solitude of the desert for about 2 hours (shorter treks available). Upon arrival to our camp, we will enjoy freshly prepared dinner and a possible climb of the massive sand dunes and watch the moon rise before retiring to our nomad tents for the night.

Accommodations: Overnight stay in desert camp with dinner included

Day 2
Tinerhir

Merzouga – Todra Gorge

We will return in the morning by camels and with your guide at sunrise to the Auberge in Merzouga for breakfast and shower before heading to Tinerhir. If you are interested, we can possibly take a visit to the seasonal lake of Dayet Srji that attracts pink flamingos and many other bird species during Spring. We can also travel to the nearby village of black slave descendants and listen to the rhythm and drums of the Gnawa music. Then we depart to Todra Gorge where the gigantic rock walls changes color as the sun moves across the sky. We recommend a short trek with a local guide through the palmeries, villages, gardens, and kasbah and experience the Berber way of living.

Accommodations: Overnight stay in caves or Kasbah with breakfast and dinner

Day 3

Todra Gorge – Dades Gorge – Ait Ben Haddou

After breakfast, we will set onto the Dades Valley. This valley is home to high cliffs of limestone and strangely shaped rock formations. The most impressive rock formations are along the Tamnalt road which is weathered from the great river. The area is dotted by group of Ksour and kasbahs tinged with the color of the earth as well as small fields of planted corn and other greens. The whole area is superb for creating painter's paradise. If you are interested, it is possible to take a short trek in the area. Thereafter, we will continue towards the Rose Valley and followed by the Skoura oasis all the way to Ouarzazate and Ait Ben haddou.

Accommodations: Overnight in Ait BenHaddou with breakfast and dinner

Day 4
Ait Ben Haddou

Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet – Marrakech

Ait Ben Haddou is the famous Ksour most visited by travelers to Morocco. It is an icon and feature of the Moroccan South. Immerse yourself into the way of life by walking the steep stairs of the Kasbah. Great location above the shallow river offers an incredible view of the surrounding areas. After our visit there, we will travel along the Ounila Valley, the old Salt Road caravan route to the Kasbah Telouet, and the old Glaoui Kasbah. This Kasbah, which is in dire need of repair offers a great glimpse of the style and melodrama of Moroccan history. Then we will meet with the Tizi N'tichka road pass that crosses the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. This dramatic drive offers splendid views of the Berber villages, valleys and mountains.
