Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Zagora
We will pick you up at your hotel/riad in Marrakech and start heading to the Atlas Mountains onto the Tizi N‘Tichka pass the direct route towards Ouarzazate. It is a spectacular and dramatic road that presents astonishing views of snow topped peaks of the Atlas Mountains and many Berber villages. Upon our descend, we will arrive to the cultural heritage site of Morocco; the Ksour of Ait BenHaddou. It was once an important stop along the caravan routes carrying salt from the Sahara and on return, gold and ivory. It is the best preserved and well fortified Kasbah with high steep walls of dark red clay, which is impenetrable in this remote hillside site. Then eventually, we will descend into Ouarzazate where we will head across barren mountains to Zagora. As we descend into Agdz, the first date palm trees of the Draa Valley will show before us. We will be viewing one of the longest stretches of this valley known all around Morocco for its sweet dates. Then later in our day, we will arrive to Zagora.
