2 Day Tour - Desert Zagora

Day 1

Marrakech - Ouarzazate - Zagora - Sand Dunes

We will meet you at your hotel/riad in Marrakech and start heading to the Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n‘Tichka pass, the direct route towards Ouarzazate. It is a spectacular and dramatic road that presents astonishing views of the snow topped peaks of the Atlas and Berber villages. Then eventually we will descend into Ouarzazate, where we might stop for tasty lunch. From there, we will head across the barren mountains to Zagora. As we descend into Agdz, the first date palm trees of the Draa Valley will appear before us. We will be viewing one of the longest stretches of this valley, know all throughout Morocco for its sweet dates. Then later in our day we will arrive to Zagora, where we saddle our camels and trek for about 1 hour in the region.

Accommodations: Spend the night in tents by sand dunes with dinner followed by breakfast in the morning

Zagora
Day 2
Ait BenHaddou

Nokhila - Zagora - AitBenHaddou - Marrakech

Today, if you are interested, we can take an off road trip through the valley to view the villages of Nomads and Berbers in this Sub Saharan region. We will take in the sights the Draa valley offers in contrast to the barren arid region. Then it will be time to head to Ouarzazate and to Ait Ben Haddou. We will have some time to explore this cultural heritage site of Morocco; the Ksour of Ait BenHaddou. It was once an important stop on the caravan routes that transported salt from the Sahara and on return, gold and ivory. It is the best preserved and well fortified Kasbah with high steep walls of dark red clay, impenetrable in this remote hillside site. After our visit here, we will cross the High Atlas Mountains back to Marrakech.
